At the beginning of December, the final of the 2024 Excel World Championship took place. The event was held at the HyperX Arena esports venue in Las Vegas. A total of 128 participants competed, with 24 finalists advancing to the final stage, many of whom are financial analysts with extensive experience in MS Excel.
During the final, participants had to showcase all their skills by solving challenging logic tasks. Each task was allocated no more than 30 minutes. As the difficulty increased, some players who failed to complete the tasks on time were eliminated from the competition.
The winner of the 2024 Excel World Championship was financial analyst Michael Jarman. He managed to surpass the 2023 world champion, Andrew Ngai. The top three finalists received $5,000 each along with prizes from sponsors.
The Excel World Championship was first held in 2012. The idea for its creation belongs to Daniel Faill, the founder of ModelOff, a company specializing in financial modeling training and certification.
